Formed in 1996 by Will Driver and James Burgess, commenced trading in 1997.
The Business is jointly owned by Will and James who both live in the BVI and who both work full time at Nanny Cay Marina.
Initially based out of Hodges Creek in the East End of Tortola and in fact the original 1st Office was a converted Broom Cupboard borrowed off Sun Yachts - it was approximately 12ft long by 8ft wide, no windows and no a/c... How things have changed!
In October of 1998 we moved into the present offices at Nanny Cay Marina, with air conditioning.
Our offices here now extend to cover Customer Services and Reception, Reservations and accounts together with the Operations Office, Laundry, Technical workshops and storage buildings.
Virgin Traders has a complete onsite Staff covering all the necessary skills to run a busy and technically challenging business. Our Teams can handle all engineering issues, electrical, shipwright and housekeeping with specialist engineers on staff headed up by Chief Engineer Jim McCauley who hails from Canada.
Virgin Traders Fleet now hovers around the 20 mark, Yachts come and go and a wonderful New 70+ Yacht is shortly due to arrive. This will be the largest Yacht we have so far had the pleasure of Managing.
Who does what?
Will Drivers responsibilities in the business include day-to-day control of Charter Operations, and working with James on New Designs and types of boats for both the charter fleet and the boat sales side of the business. Will works with the technical and dock staff to ensure smooth running of the Yachts from start to finish. Will is a + 20 year veteran of the Charter Industry.
James' Burgess's role principally includes Reservations and Marketing.
James works directly with the reservations& front office teams who handle all incoming inquiries and backs this effort up.
The reservations team is experienced in all aspects of Charter and can give accurate and enthusiastic information to everyone looking to charter with the company.
Over the years the company has amassed a substantial database of people and currently works through email and direct mail to over 10,000 people.
Its all a far cry for the Broom Cupboard J
